Who are You?
In Simon Sinek’s book “It Starts with Why” he does a great job of inspiring us through both story and science about the importance of purpose for our organizations, and really ourselves.
I have spent much of the last year using this current take on vision to inspire clients as well, but one thing that is glaringly absent from it is a comment on the vehicle of ‘why’ – us. At the end of the day I really don’t want to be known for the ‘why’ I created, or how successful my business was; I want to be remembered for the value I added in the people I relate to everyday.
As a leader this is a challenge indeed. The more time I spend in leadership the more I realize there are very few leadership experts encouraging us to become better people – selfless people who build into others and make a difference in the world by making a positive difference in the people we lead.
