Clear communication re-enforces vision and gives stability to an organization. The key is to establish a core set of communicable measures, KPI’s that everyone is interested in and needing to get regular updates on. Then…update them regularly!

It actually matters most that you are consistent, not that you are always winning. If you communicate even when you are not winning but give guidance as to how shortfalls will be addressed, it actually builds capital with your team. The honesty and proactive nature of the communication is a net positive for your organizations culture.

The alternative is to let internal politics (aka gossip) communicate for you. Do you really want the lowest common denominator giving their opinion of how you are doing? Tell everyone and avoid chaos. Control your own message!
